“Published quarterly by The Camera Club of New York and edited by Alfred Stieglitz, ‘Camera Notes’ (1897-1903) represented a crucial phase in the campaign to legitimize the photoimage as an artistic persuit. Over the course of its life, the publication printed essays and articles as well as hundreds of halftones and high-quality photogravures. in the case of the latter, all 91 that appeared during the journal’s life are reproduced here in their original tones, with a fully illustrated index of the more than 250 halftones.” (Cat.
